International Workshop on Development of Ornamental Plant and Flower Clusters for Sustainable Careers and Competitiveness of SMEs in APEC
Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) hosted the International Workshop on Development of Ornamental Plant and Flower Clusters for Sustainable Careers and Competitiveness of SMEs in APEC on 19-20 July 2022 in hybrid ; onsite at Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok, and online by Zoom Webinar. The workshop was one of APEC Project under the working group of Policy Partnership on Science, Technology, and Innovation – PPSTI where having the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) as the focal point of Thailand in the PPSTI.
The workshop was aimed to demonstrate how of TISTR’s success in the development of flower and ornamental plants SME clusters in Thailand by utilization of science, technology, and innovation to improve such business and competitiveness from up- to downstream. It was the showcase of success of Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) in action for sustainable development. This workshop was a platform of learning from the Netherlands’ expert who are the key player of flower and ornamental plant business. Besides, there was sharing on business opportunity and online marketing of this business. In addition, the event gathered representatives from APEC member economies e.g. China and Indonesia to share their status, issue, and demand on the futher development in this area.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation is an inter-governmental forum for 21 member economies started in 1989 in the Pacific Rim that promotes free trade throughout the Asia-Pacific region. In 2022 is the Thailand’s APEC host year having priorities to open to all opportunities, connect in all dimensions, and be balanced in all aspects. This APEC project of TISTR is in line with the priorities of APEC 2022, and driving of BCG to action actually.
