On 21 March 2024, Mr. Montree Kaewduang, Director of Lam Takhong Research Station, TISTR, along with Dr. Boonnanida Sodha, Director of the International Relations Division of TISTR and their team warmly welcomed the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, namely H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsanaa from Mongolia, H.E. Mr. Patrick Bourne from Ireland, H.E. Mrs. Shirley Dennise Aguilar Barrera from Guatemala and other honorable representatives from Diplomatic Missions based in Thailand. Over 100 participants from more than 26 countries visited Lam Takhong Research Station located in Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
This event was part of the Diplomacy and International Partnership Forum promoting international cooperation in higher education, science, research, and innovation organized through the cooperation between the International Affairs Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and Lower Northeastern Science Park (Nakhon Ratchasima) with a primary objective to facilitate knowledge exchange, experiences, and feedback on joint collaboration with the representatives from various embassies based in Thailand.
During the visit, participants explored two key areas within the Lam Takhong Research Station:
1. The Chaloem Phrakiat Building (Arboretum 2) showcased the evolution and utilization of plants. This section featured a diverse array of plant species, classified according to their uses, ranging from primitive plants to Thai historical species, rare and endemic plants, as well as herbs, spices, and ingredients for beverages.
2. The Tropical Insect Sanctuary exhibited living insects and highlighted their benefits. Within this dome-shaped insectarium, various insect species were showcased for educational and scientific purposes, offering visitors a glimpse into the diverse world of insects within their natural habitats alongside mounted insect specimens.
