TISTR’s Strategic Mission to Melbourne, Australia in 2024: Pioneering FODMAP, Health Food, and Environmental Collaborations

A delegation from the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) embarked on a significant visit to Melbourne, Australia, from August 4-9, 2024, to strengthen international collaborations in health food testing, plastic waste management, and sustainability. Led by Governor Dr. Chutima Eamchotichawalit, the team engaged with top research institutions, including Monash University and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), to discuss advancements in low FODMAP diet food certification and food innovation. The delegation also participated in two pivotal events: the Ending Plastic Waste Symposium 2024 and the IPPIN Advisory Group Forum 2024, where they presented their R&D achievements in circular economy practices related to plastic waste. This visit marked a crucial step in fostering global partnerships aimed at addressing key environmental and health challenges.

August 5, 2024 – Visitation to Monash University and CSIRO Food Innovation Centre, Melbourne, Australia:
A delegation from the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), led by Dr. Chutima Eamchotichawalit, the Governor, visited Monash University, Alfred Centre, and CSIRO Food Innovation Centre to discuss collaborations in health food testing . At Monash, they exchanged ideas with leaders in gastroenterology on FODMAP testing technologies and certification for the products, aiming to enhance consumer confidence in health products. In addition, they visited CSIRO Food Innovation Centre and met with their executive members discussion on food innovation technologies, emphasizing the development of safe, nutritious, and sustainable food products.

August 6-7, 2024 – Participation in the Ending Plastic Waste Symposium 2024, Melbourne, Australia:
The TISTR team attended the Ending Plastic Waste Symposium 2024. Dr. Chutima, an Advisory Group Member of the Indo-Pacific Plastics Innovation Network (IPPIN), participated in discussions on reducing plastic waste, promoting recycling, and advancing the circular economy. Dr. Rewadee Anuwattana presented TISTR’s waste management innovations. TISTR was recognized by CSIRO for its contributions to IPPIN, and Dr. Rewadee was the winning the CRC Award for her work in promoting the circular economy in plastic waste management highlighted TISTR’s commitment to sustainability.

August 8, 2024 – Participation in the IPPIN Advisory Group Forum 2024, Melbourne, Australia:
The TISTR delegation participated in the IPPIN Advisory Group Forum, discussing regional strategies for managing plastic waste with experts from Australia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Dr. Chutima highlighted Thailand’s successful approaches, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation and innovative technologies in addressing environmental challenges. The visit underscored TISTR’s role in promoting sustainability and innovation on the global stage.
