Thailand Biomass Consortium (TBC)

Prior to the establishment of BORC, Thailand Biomass Consortium (TBC) has to be established as a national network for the management of biomass/bioenergy by all stakeholders. Thus, the setting up of TBC will be a firm platform to support the establishment of BORC which is TBC’s ultimate goal. The mission of TBC for Thailand biomass/bioenergy management are to: 1) identify technology gap and development of Thailand’s biomass technology roadmap, 2) establish open arena on Thailand’s biomass related information and research activities, and 3) create mechanism and opportunities for joint research/investment, including financial support on biomass and related industries.

The role of TBC
1) Build collaboration including information sharing among stakeholders in the value chain creation from biomass
2) Create optimal outcomes relevant to national and international (ASEAN+ ) sustainable development policy
3) Achieve international collaboration through the mechanism of open innovation research center.

The TBC Executive Committee (TBCEC)

The TBC Executive Committee (TBCEC) consists of experts from stakeholders that are composed of 4 groups: 1) policy maker, 2) funding agency, 3) R&D institute & university, and 4) private sector (industry and business) and TISTR is secretariat, R&D open arena, and information and training centers, including standard setting and analysis for both TBC and BORC. The lists of chairman in the TBCEC are as follow.

• Chairmen – Mr. Chen Namchaisiri, President and Executive Director at Asia Fiber Public Co.,Ltd. and Vice Chairman of Federation of Thai Industries
• Chairman of the Policy Makers working group – Dr. Surachai Satitkunaruk, Director of Energy and Environmental Department, National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI)
• Chairman of Financial Support working group – Dr. Nongluck Pankurddee, Deputy Director of Agricultural Research Development Agency (ARDA)
• Chairman of the Research and Development working group – Dr. Aparat Mahakhant, Deputy Governor R&D for Sustainable Development, TISTR
• Chairman of the industries and business working group – Mr. Phichai Tinsuntisook, President of Royal Equipment Co., Ltd. and Chairman of Renewable Energy Industry Club of Federation of Thai Industries (F.T.I.)
