19 – 20 September 2023 – TISTR, in cooperation with the Office of SMEs Promotion (OSMEP), organized ‘Seminar and Workshop on the Opportunity of Thai Cosmetic Ingredients/Products to EU Market’. The event was attended by over 90 participants representing businesses in Thai cosmetic ingredients and products industry, at TISTR Technopolis, Patham thani Province. During the opening ceremony Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit, Governor of TISTR and Dr. Veerapong Malai, Director General of OSMEP delivered welcome speeches.
This seminar and workshop featured Dr. Caroline Bassoni, a Regulatory Affair Director of COSMED as a distinguished speaker, to provide introduction to COSMED, along with comprehensive insights into the regulatory frameworks and requirements including documents to import natural extract to EU or France (Reach, CLP, IFRA and EU CPR), as well as, the methods to claim natural and organic ingredients and products in EU or France (ISO 16128 and COSMOS certification, and other types of naturality claims – cruelty free and vegan related EU requirements.
Furthermore, researchers/experts from TISTR delivered lectures aimed at enhancing Thai cosmetic ingredients and products. The topics included ‘Organic Cosmetic Certification in Thailand’ presented by Dr. Pattravee Thong-on, a researcher from Expert Centre of Innovative Health Product (InnoHerb) of TISTR, and ‘Biodegradable Testing for Chemical Products’ presented by Dr. Achana Pattanasupong, Director of Material Biodegradation Testing Laboratory of TISTR.
Lastly, focus-group workshop was conducted to provide customized services and solutions to Thai SMEs and entrepreneurs form Thai cosmetic industry, focusing on principles and guidelines on technical definition and criteria for natural and organic cosmetic ingredients following ISO 16128’, in order to expand their business opportunity in EU market.
