From 3-5 November 2024, Dr. Boonnanida Sodha, Director of International Relations Division of TISTR, along with a group of researchers from the Research and Development Group for Bio-industries (TISTR-RDB) including Dr. Chaivarakun Chaipanya, Dr. Watcharee Kunyalung, Dr. Thitirat Ditkaew, Dr. Thongkorn Ploypetchara, Dr. Waraporn Sorndech, and Ms. Suphawadee Bouban welcomed delegates from Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand for a regional workshop on “Community Capacity Building” for Riparian Communities from the Lower Mekong River Basin Countries. The workshop was organized by TISTR in collaboration with key partners, including the Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRCS) and the Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) held at the Algal Excellence Center (ALEC) of TISTR, Pathum Thani, Thailand.
During the workshop, the researchers led presentations and hands-on training on algae as part of the “Evaluation of Cladophora for Value-Added Product Development in Luang Prabang to Promote Sustainable Income Generation” pilot project. The project covers aspects such as water quality analysis in the Mekong River Basin, value-added development of algae, and feasibility studies for driving shared services.
