TISTR – Embassy of Japan in Thailand Participated in the Meeting of “End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Circular System Project in Thailand”

On 7 July 2023, Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit, Governor of TISTR and Dr. Pratip Vongbandit, Deputy Governor of Research and Development Group for Sustainable Development welcomed the delegations of the Embassy of Japan in Thailand and Japanese organizations, namely Ms. Yumi Numajiri, Commercial Attache of the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, Ms. Mayumi Iida, Assistant Representative and Ms. Kitsinee Sujirapinyokul, Assistant Coordinator of AOTS Bangkok Office and Mr. Yoshiaki Ishimoto, President of Act to Zero through the meeting of “End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Circular System Project in Thailand” towards achieving sustainable economic development with the cooperation between two great nations, Japan and Thailand.

In addition, this project’s objectives align with the concept of Thailand’s “BCG Economy Model” and Japan’s “Green Growth Strategy” in the area of energy sector for circular economy, focusing on creating a sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally conscious economy.

During the meeting, the Japanese delegations presented the proposal of the project in Thailand, including the framework of the sustainable End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Circular system, the current status, the conceptual policy under the BCG Economy Model and the tentative training programs of ELV Circular System for Thai officials in 2023. During the time, Dr. Rewadee Anuwattana and Ms. Nalinthorn Suwaporncharuwach, TISTR representatives provided a brief overview of their working projects on solid waste solutions and management, and Electric Vehicle (EV) during the discussion session.

This meeting was the remarkable initiative between two organizations and can be continued to maximize respective strengths to complement each other’s strategic work, especially in the areas of sustainable economic development.
