On 5 February 2026, the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) welcomed a delegation from the Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo)—formerly known as Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech)—for a visit and discussion on future collaboration.
The meeting took place at the Algal Excellent Center (ALEC) at TISTR Headquarters, during 10.00–12.00 hrs.
The visit program included a video overview of TISTR, a brief introduction of ALEC, and a presentation highlighting past collaborative activities between TISTR and Science Tokyo. The delegation also participated in an open discussion session to explore potential areas of cooperation, followed by a facility tour of ALEC’s research laboratories and infrastructure.
The Science Tokyo delegation was represented by Ms. Tomomi Kawazoe, University Research Administrator, and Dr. Dumrongkiat Ratana-Amornpin, Advisor of Science Tokyo ANNEX Bangkok. TISTR participants included representatives from the International Relations Division, Digital and Information Office, Biodiversity Research Centre, and the Expert Centre of Innovative Clean Energy and Environment.
This visit reflects the growing relationship between TISTR and Science Tokyo, and serves as a valuable opportunity to further enhance academic exchange, joint research initiatives, and future collaboration in the field of biotechnology, enery, and microalgae-based innovation.
