On 30 April 2025, a delegation from Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), led by Dr. Anat Hasap, Director of Railway Transportation System Testing Centre (RTTC), along with Dr. Worawat Songkitti, Technical Officer from RTTC, and Ms. Juthathip Waewsampan, Assistant International Relations Officer from International Relations Division, TISTR, met with representatives from higher education institutions and relevant agencies of the People’s Republic of China.
The Chinese delegation included:
Mr. Dong Rensong, President of the National Science Park, Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST)
Prof. Dr. Tao Zhong, Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST)
Mr. Li Wei, First-level Researcher and Director of the Professional and Technical Personnel Management Division, Yunnan Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security (YPDHRSS)
The group held discussions with representatives of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand, including:
Mr. MA Minggeng, Counsellor for Science and Technology
Mr. Wang Qiang, First Secretary
Ms. Fu Shan, Third Secretary
The purpose of the meeting was to further develop and elevate Thai-Chinese cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and environmental sustainability. The discussion focused on academic knowledge exchange and joint strategic interests, including:
– Railway systems and transport technologies
– New Energy Vehicles
– Environmental quality and monitoring
– Household and municipal waste management
– Air pollution control
– Industrial waste management
– Sustainable environmental development
This engagement aimed to build mutual trust and foster effective long-term collaboration between the two countries, paving the way for future cooperative activities.
The dialogue marks a significant step forward in promoting bilateral understanding and cooperation, and is expected to lead to the development of joint research projects, academic exchanges, and technology transfer initiatives to address emerging environmental challenges.
This meeting followed a successful seminar co-organized by TISTR, Thammasat University, and KUST on 28-29 April, which focused on science and environmental issues. The event drew wide participation from government, academic, and private sectors of both countries, representing a concrete and impactful achievement in Thai-Chinese collaboration.
