
On 17 March 2025, Dr. Pongsathon Phapugrangkul, Deputy Governor of R&D Group for Bio-industries, along with Dr. Anat Hasap, Director of the Railway Transportation System Testing Centre (RTTC); Dr. Rochana Tangkoonboribun, Director of the Expert Centre of Innovative Agriculture (InnoAg); Dr. Boonnanida Sodha, Director of the International Relations Division; and the International Relations team, engaged in discussions on functional agriculture and rail and transportation technology collaboration with Mr. MA Minggeng, Counsellor for Science and Technology, and Ms. FU Shan, Third Secretary, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand.
The meeting highlighted key areas of collaboration, with requests for the Embassy’s support in facilitating engagement with relevant Chinese agencies. The proposed initiatives include the development and quality control of economic mushroom spawn production in Thailand, the establishment of the China-Thailand Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Rail Transit, the creation of the International Technology Transfer Center (ITTC) in Thailand to promote technology exchange, funding support for research and technology transfer in high-speed rail systems, and capacity building through human resource development and postdoctoral training programmes to support ASEAN’s transport, logistics, and clean energy vehicle industries.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation. TISTR remains committed to fostering science, technology, and innovation (STI) collaboration with Chinese research institutions and industries, particularly in functional agriculture and rail and transportation technology, to enhance Thailand’s technological and industrial capabilities.
