The Visit of the Delegation from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Republic of the Philippines to Lam Takhong Research Station, TISTR

On 23 January 2025, Dr. Rochana Tangkoonboribun, Director of the Expert Centre of Innovative Agriculture, along with Mr. Montree Keawdoung, Director of Lam Takhong Research Station, and a team of researchers and International Relations Officers, had the honor of warmly welcoming H.E. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippines and the distinguished DOST delegation. The visit aimed to exchange knowledge and explore research and development collaboration in agricultural science and technology at Lam Takhong Research Station.

On this occasion, Mr. Montree provided an overview of the research station’s initiatives, highlighting agricultural research, development, and technology transfer through demonstration in crop production and adoption of good agricultural practices to support farmers in crop improvement and yield enhancement, as well as promoting the station as a center for conservation learning and utilization of plants and insects. In addition, Mr. Rewat Chindachia, Research Officer, together with Ms. Banthita Pensuriya, Staff Member from Lam Takhong Research Station, presented information on the community seed bank and plant tissue culture laboratory. Dr. Kanungnid Busarakam, Senior Research Officer, Biodiversity Research Centre and Ms. Phawini Khetnon, Staff Member from Lam Takhong Research Station introduced the fascinating Tropical Insect Sanctuary.

This visit reinforces the strong Thailand-Philippines partnership, paving the way for future scientific, technological, and innovation-driven collaboration towards sustainable development.

TISTR and Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) under DOST have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on agricultural research, covering key areas such as organic fertilizer production, tissue culture, varietal improvement and selection, plant pest management, and post-harvest technologies.
