On 21 January 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Weerachai Arjharn, Governor of TISTR, under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), and Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Executive Director of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of the Philippines, have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).
The signing ceremony was honored by the presence of Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, and H.E. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., Secretary of DOST, who served as witnesses. In this regard, Dr. Rochana Tangkoonboribun, Director of TISTR’s Expert Centre of Innovative Agriculture (InnoAg), researchers and International Relations Division team of TISTR also attended the event, which took place at the Mandarin Hotel, Bangkok.
This MoA focuses on four key areas of collaboration:
– Organic fertilizer production
– Tissue culture, varietal improvement and selection
– Plant pest management
– Post-harvest technologies.
The agreement marks a significant step in advancing research and innovation for sustainable agriculture and environmental development between Thailand and the Philippines.
