On 21 January 2025, Mrs. Sirinan Thubthimthed, Chief Administrative Expert/Acting Director of the Expert Centre of Innovative Health Food, along with Dr. Rochana Tangkoonboribun, Director of the Expert Centre of Innovative Agriculture, and relevant researchers, participated in the Thailand-Philippines Working Group Meeting at Mandarin Hotel, Bangkok. The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Thailand.
The meeting aimed to strengthen scientific and technological partnerships between the two nations and was held in conjunction with the visit of H.E. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippines. The key areas of discussion focused on Innovative Agriculture, Medical Science, Food Processing and Nanotechnology, Synchrotron Utilization and Application, Landslide Prediction, High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence, and Talent Development and Mobility.
TISTR actively contributed to two discussion groups:
- Innovative Agriculture – Discussed mutual interests on organic fertilizer production, plant tissue culture, varietal improvement and selection, plant pest management, and post-harvest technology
- Medical Science – Explored research potential on functional food, functional ingredients, and biobanking.
Additionally, the DOST delegation was scheduled to visit TISTR’s Lam Takhong Research Station in Nakhon Ratchasima on 23 January 2025, where they would tour the Community Seed Bank, Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, and Tropical Insect Sanctuary.
This collaboration highlighted the shared commitment of both nations to driving scientific and technological advancements for sustainable growth.
