On 18 December 2024, Dr. Boonnanida Sodha, Director of the International Relations Division, together with Dr. Khanok-On Amprayn, Senior Research Officer from the Expert Centre of Innovative Agriculture, and a team of researchers warmly welcomed a delegation of teachers and students from Mie Prefectural Kuwana High School, Japan.

In this regard, Dr. Boonnanida delivered a welcoming speech, followed by a brief overview of the scientific experiment – The study of duckweeds from different locations presented by Dr. Khanok-On. This activity was designed to enhance understanding of science and technology while encouraging students to exchange knowledge and perspectives on research and development.
The visiting students actively participated in a hands-on experiment, where they explored the fascinating characteristics of duckweeds, as well as observed and analyzed the morphology, growth conditions, and relations with other microorganisms. The key activities included 1) Observing and categorizing various duckweed species, 2) Analyzing the root structures using a microscope and investigating potential association with microalgae, and 3) Measuring water colour, pH, and electrical conductivity. Finally, the students concluded the session by sharing their findings and comparing similarities and differences among the collected samples with their peers. We hope this scientific experiment will inspire the younger generation to pursue a passion for science, technology, and innovation.
