The Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), through the Railway Transportation System Testing Center (RTTC), in collaboration with Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) and its network of allies hosted the “Belt and Road Thai Engineers Training and China-Thailand Engineering Technology Innovation and Development Forum”. The event was held on 14-15 November 2024, at Novotel Bangkok Future Park Rangsit, drawing approximately 100 participants from Thailand and China.
The forum aimed to foster knowledge exchange, promote technological advancements, and build networks for capacity building between the two countries. Topics included environmental and waste management, building protection technologies, road and bridge safety monitoring, and standards for battery electric vehicles.
Key Highlights of the Cooperation between TISTR and KUST:
1. Signing of the tripartite collaboration agreement:
Dr. Jittra Chaivimol, Acting Governor of TISTR, Mr. Dong Rensong, Chairman of KUST National Science Park Co.,Ltd., and Mr. Zhong Tao, Deputy General Manager of KUST Design and Research Institute Co.,Ltd. signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish the TISTR-KUST International Technology Transfer Center. This milestone aims to elevate collaboration in science, technology, and innovation, addressing key challenges while enhancing the technological capabilities of both nations.

2. Unveiling Ceremony of the TISTR-KUST International Technology Transfer Center:
Marking a significant moment in the significant cooperation, the unveiling ceremony officially introduced the TISTR-KUST International Technology Transfer Center. This center represents a shared vision of enhancing cooperation in technology transfer, innovation, and strengthen the workforce competency development in both countries.

These two key milestones demonstrate the commitment of TISTR and KUST to fostering enduring partnerships and advancing technological solutions for pressing global challenges.
During the forum, esteemed speakers and participants shared their expertise, including Professor Yang Jinyu and colleagues from Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), Dr. Anat Hasap, Director of RTTC under TISTR, and prominent Thai experts such as Mr. Rintawat Sombatsiri, Director of the Production Technology Promotion Division at the Department of Industrial Works, and Associate Professor Dr. Ekathai Wirojsakulchai from Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Engineering. Their insights and contributions greatly enriched the discussions, fostering collaboration and innovation between Thailand and China.
This event has underscored the integration of science and technology for mutual benefit and advancing sustainable development through international partnerships.
