WAITRO Secretary General Visited TISTR

From August 14-16, 2024, Dr. Paul Burrows, Secretary General of the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO), visited Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), the head quarter at Technopolis in Pathum Thani, and the campus in Nakhon Ratchasima.

The visit on 14th was an opportunity for Dr. Burrows to share updates on upcoming activities and projects under WAITRO, a global network for industrial research and development. Key member organizations of WAITRO such as the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) and the National Innovation Center par Excellence  were introduced to strengthen sustainable collaboration between WAITRO and TISTR. Dr. Burrows also engaged with TISTR staff who have benefited from various WAITRO programs, fostering closer ties between the two organizations and inspiring ongoing innovation and research within TISTR.

On August 15-16, Dr. Burrows and his delegation visited the Sakaerat Environmental Research Station (SERS), a research station and facility of TISTR in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. They explored the role of SERS as a critical hub for environmental research. SERS, located in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is vital for studying biodiversity, climate change, and carbon sequestration. Its importance lies in its ability to support long-term environmental research and provide a platform for international collaboration, making it a key site for advancing global scientific knowledge and fostering sustainable development

During the visit, Dr. Burrows participated in activities with students at a science camp, inspiring the next generation to pursue careers in science, technology, and international organizations. The visit is expected to strengthen international cooperation in scientific research and innovation.
