
On 12 July 2024, Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit, Governor of TISTR was honored to attend the Spain-Thailand Innovation Forum entitled “Harnessing the Potential of Nanotechnology in Future Health, Personalized Medicine, and Wellbeing” at Mandarin Hotel.
The event aimed to promote research and innovative cooperation, technology-based partnerships, and business opportunities between Thai and Spanish stakeholders. The forum highlighted the pivotal role and application of nanotechnology in advancing future health, personalized medicine, and wellbeing. Additionally, the event provided useful information on bilateral funding schemes designed to foster research and development cooperation between Thai and Spanish organizations. The event was organized in collaboration with the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), Ministry of Science & Innovation, Government of Spain, Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, Embassy of Spain in Bangkok, Thailand, Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC), Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council, Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Innovation, Thailand (MHESI), and was supported by the Center for Cooperative Research in Biomaterials- CIC biomaGUNE, Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS).


On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Felipe De La Morena, Ambassador of Spain to the Kingdom of Thailand and Ms. Suchada Thaensap, Secretary to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation delivered the opening remarks.




The morning session featured an engaging lecture on the overview of R&D capacities, leadership, and infrastructure in health and nanomedicine. This was followed by a high-level roundtable envisioning the future of health and the opportunity for cooperation. Furthermore, there was pitching of new project ideas and strategic alliances on research and innovation capacities in nanotechnology applications for future health, personalized medicine, and wellbeing. In addition, there was a talk on the Thailand-Spain bilateral framework promoting and funding Innovation-driven R&D cooperation: Thailand & Spain Innovating Program (TLSIP). In the afternoon session, there was a business matching meeting (B2B, R2B, R2R), providing an excellent opportunity to establish R&D networks with governmental and private agencies in health and medical nanotechnology.
