The Railway Transportation System Testing Centre (RTTC), under the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), organized a seminar on “Technical Cooperation for Research and Development and Implementation of Railway Inspection and Monitoring Technology” on 10-11 June 2024. This seminar was supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA). The primary objective was to develop and transfer modern railway inspection technology systems to the ASEAN region.
At the event, Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit, Governor of TISTR, inaugurated the seminar and welcomed the participants, including representatives from ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Laos, as well as from the People’s Republic of China and Australia, who were professionals involved in railway system development.
The event, led by Dr. Anat Hasap, Director of the Railway Transportation System Testing Centre (RTTC) and the RTTC team, included lectures and demonstration workshops on the following topics:
– Modern technology for track inspection
– Safety policies for rail transit in Thailand
– Monitoring inspection systems
– Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) technology for rail transit and high-speed trains
– Development of local technology for Train Weight Devices (TWD) in Thailand
– Advancements in railway inspection technologies
Over the two-day event, participants also had an opportunity to visit the laboratories of the Railway Transportation System Testing Center of TISTR and the Railway Metrology Laboratory of the National Institute of Metrology Thailand (NIMT) in Khlong Ha, Pathum Thani, where they observed technological advancements in railway inspection and monitoring.
