On October 22, 2025, at the Conrad Hotel Bangkok, the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), led by Assist. Prof. Dr. Weerachai Arjharn, Governor of TISTR, participated in the IPPIN Demo Day 2025 and presented a Showcase on microalgae Technology for sustainable plastic alternatives.
Dr. Weerachai serves as an Advisory Member of the Thailand Chapter under the Indo-Pacific Plastics Innovation Network (IPPIN).
The event was officially opened by H.E. Dr. Angela Macdonald PSM, Australian Ambassador to Thailand, together with representatives from CSIRO, NIA, MTEC–NSTDA, and Thailand Environment Institute (TEI).
Dr. Nuttapon Vachiraroj, Research Officer from TISTR’s Biodiversity Research Centre (BRC), and his team, who participated in the IPPIN Incubator Program 2025, presented their research on microalgae-based materials as an innovative bio-based solution to replace conventional plastics, promoting a bio-circular-green and low-carbon economy.
The IPPIN Demo Day 2025, organized by CSIRO in collaboration with its partner organizations in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, served as a platform for startups, innovators, and researchers across the Indo-Pacific region to showcase science-based solutions addressing plastic pollution, advancing circular innovation, and strengthening international collaboration for sustainable development.
