Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and innovation (MHESI) got approval from APEC on the Project Proposal on Capacity Building Workshop on Testing Methods for Internet of Things (IoT) Products in this July 2022. It was the success of TISTR and Thailand to moving toward advancement of analysis and testing services on IoT products in accordance to the international standards. It was aimed at regional cooperation and sustainability together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit, Governor of TISTR, clarified that TISTR has submitted the said APEC proposal having Dr. Prawate Kluaypa, Director of Electrical and Electronic Standards Laboratory, Industrial Metrology and Testing Service Centre (MTC), as the Project Oversea (PO), or in other words, the project proponent. The proposal was submitted though the APEC Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance (SCSC) in June 2021, and has been approved by APEC recently in July 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026. This proposal got positive feedback from various APEC member economies e.g. People\u2019s Republic of China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Chinese Taipei, to support this project which will promote the capacity building and lesson learned the expertise of the economies having advancement in IoT products though workshops and round robin test under the supervision of experts. The success of this APEC approval was counted as the pride of TISTR and Thailand to raise higher performance of S&T testing services and favour the demand of entrepreneurs or industrial sector\u2026.\u201d Said by the Governor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Prawet Kluaypa, Director of Electrical and Electronic Standards Laboratory of TISTR, on behalf of the Project Oversea mentioned that, the demand and usage of IoT products has increased multiply especially since the COVID-19. Internet technology helps driving toward the New Normal situation. However, the testing methods of IoT products are varied and rely on different standards, limitation of testing performance, and context of economies. Therefore, the project is aimed to brainstorm and learning among the participating economies, capacity building both persons and testing laboratories where providing service, to establish the testing acceptable by the international standard. It will promote the cooperation and gear toward inclusive sustainable growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, APEC stands for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation having 21 member economies namelyAustralia, Canada, Japan, Republic of Korea, People\u2019s Republic of China, Hong Kong, China, New Zealand,the United States, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, ChineseTaipei, Chile, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Russia and Vietnam. APEC promotes the cooperation and sustainable economic growth among the member economies with equality and inclusivity aspects. Within APEC, there are specialized working groups to drive the solutions of important issues in economy, society, environment and sustainability. The Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance (SCSC) is one of working groups having Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) as the focal point of Thailand. Projects are the key mechanism of APEC to concrete the cooperation and development of the region.<\/p>\n
