The Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), a long-standing member of the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO), will share its successful experiences in leveraging the WAITRO network to advance international research collaboration at the WAITRO Summit 2026<\/strong>, to be held in Istanbul, T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On 26 October 2026<\/strong>, TISTR will host a Member-Led Session entitled \u201cFrom Idea to Impact \u2013 Lessons from WAITRO Initiatives.\u201d<\/strong> The session will highlight how WAITRO membership has provided TISTR with opportunities to connect with international research partners, build research consortia, access international funding platforms, and obtain seed funding to transform collaborative ideas into concrete research projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two TISTR researchers will share successful cases demonstrating the value and impact of international collaboration through WAITRO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Rochana Tangkoonboribun, Deputy Governor of TISTR<\/strong>, will present TISTR\u2019s journey toward its successful participation in the SOILGUARD project under the European Union\u2019s Horizon 2020 Programme<\/strong>. The case demonstrates how connections established through the WAITRO network contributed to international partner engagement and consortium building, creating an opportunity for TISTR to participate in a major international research project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Waraporn Sorndech, Senior Research Officer at TISTR<\/strong>, will share the experience of a joint research initiative between TISTR and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Indonesia<\/strong>, supported by the WAITRO Innovation Award<\/strong>. The project illustrates how seed funding can help turn a shared research interest into practical collaboration, strengthen trust between research partners, and lay the foundation for longer-term research cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through these two cases, TISTR will share practical lessons on moving from networking to partnership, from research ideas to funding opportunities, and from initial collaboration to sustainable impact<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n TISTR\u2019s participation also reflects the value of WAITRO membership as a gateway to the global research and innovation community.
