On 18 October 2022, Dr. Chatrudee Suwannachart, Dr. Kanungnid Busarakam, Dr. Susakul Palakawong, Dr. Jaruwan Sitdhipol, Dr. Pornpoj Srisukchayakul, Dr. Kanidta Niwasabutra, Ms. Siritorn Theeravet from the Biodiversity Research Centre and Dr. Bundit Fungsin from the Expert Centre of Innovative Health Food, TISTR attended the 19th Asian Consortium for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Microbial Resources (ACM19), which was organized online by the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS), People\u2019s Republic of China. The objectives of the ACM19 meeting were to discuss the work guidelines among members, report on the performance of the members\u2019 culture collection centers, and present the results of joint activities for the creation of sustainable microorganism utilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the plenary seminar, there were two keynote speakers: Prof. Guoping Zhao, Academician of CAS, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Life Sciences, Fudan University presented on \u201cMicrobiome Era: Opportunity and Challenge for Data & Culture Collection\u201d and Prof. Wei Qian, Director-General, IMCAS presented on \u201cMicrobial Resource and IMCAS\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting Session 1: General Assembly comprised of 1) Adoption of 18th ACM minutes, 2) New membership applicants, 3) Organizational name change, 4) Host for the ACM20 (2023) and ACM21 (2024), and 5) Any other businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting Session 2 \u2013 Member Reports enabled the ACM members to make an updated report on the progression and performance of culture collection centers. This time, Dr. Kanungnid Busarakam was the representative from TISTR Culture Collection, who presented the work progression report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting Session 3 \u2013 Taskforce Presentation provided the opportunity for the representatives to present 1) Asian Biological Resource Center Network, 2) BRC Standardization, 3) Human Resource Development (HRD), 4) Management of Material Transfer, and 5) Mutual Aid Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ACM19 meeting would be a significant platform to strengthen international relationships and cooperation among governmental and public organizations for the conservation and utilization of microbial resources in Asian countries. There was a total of 68 attendees from 15 countries joining the ACM19 meeting.<\/p>\n
