TISTR delegation headed by Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit, Governor, participated in the WAITRO Summit 2022 and General Assembly held in Cape Town, South Africa during 14-16 November 2022.
The WAITRO Summit was the flagship event of WAITRO as a networking platform gathering over 130 people who are the key research and innovation stakeholders from around the world both member or non-member of WAITRO. This year’s theme is inspired by the SDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals. The event was fruitful by the 3 core tracks e.g. plenary hall for the keynotes and panel discussions on the hot issues, networking zone for posters award competition on SDG impact and member zone, and breakout sessions for the special workshops to kick off working groups of WAITRO for the SDGs, and capacity building workshops to level up the skills to achieving sustainable future.
TISTR delegates participated in many event of the Summit e.g. Keynote and Roundtable on SDG 17, Workshop from R&D to Commercialization, Kick-off Working Group SDG 2 Zero Hunger, Workshop on Benchmarking Best RTO Management Practices, and Workshop on the Project Pitch. During the networking time, TISTR met and discussed with the representatives of many WAITRO member organizations e.g. SIRIM Berhad of Malaysia, Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) of Sri Lanka, Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI-DOST) of Philippines, National Industrial Learning Service (SENAI) of Brazil, The Scientific and Technological Research Institution (TUBITAK) of Turkey, aiming to inspiring ideas of future collaboration.

Besides, TISTR nominated the 2 posters to the SDG impact award on the topic of Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Farming Model for Building Sustainable Self-Reliant Communities, and Production System of Quality, Low-cost, and Sustainable Community Water Supply using IOT in a Shortage Area. The posters passed the 1streview of the committee to show in the Summit.

On the last day, TISTR participated in the General Assembly which was the important meeting in every 2 years for the WAITRO members in good standing to review the work achievement of WAITRO, strategic direction and work plans, and administrative works for the other 2 years. Besides, the members had to vote for their new-term Executive Board Members who will be the key persons to directorate and strive forward the sustainable future of WAITRO.

WAITRO Stands for the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations having over 100 members diverse across the globe. WAITRO has its mission to leverage the capacity building and competency of the members not only the institution but at personnel level. At the moment, WAITRO strongly focus on the value and function of networking. There were several projects matching among the members and successful financial grant from the international funding platforms, such as, Horizon2020. TISTR has been a membership in good standing since 1985. These years, TISTR has been appointed to be the WAITRO Regional Focal Point for Asia and the Pacific having over 30 members in this region.
