International Conference on “Circular Economy and Technology Transfer for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises
On 23 September 2020, Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) jointly with Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) organized international conference on “Circular Economy and Technology Transfer for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises” which is a part of ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2020 at BITEC Bangna, Bangkok, Thailand.
The event is aimed to create awareness on the concepts and strategies of Circular economy, with specific focus on Bio economy and Green Economy; and role of transfer and commercialization of technologies for BCG Economy as well as facilitate sharing of best practices and policy options to advance Circular economy and technology transfer. The event would like to identify strategies to empower SMEs to develop, adopt and adapt technologies for Circular economy. Additionally, regional cooperation among member countries to advance technology transfer for Circular economy is also expected to happen in this conference.
The conference comprises of 2 topics of panel discussion and 3 topics of technical session. Those activities were conducted by speakers, panelists and moderators from both international and Thai organizations. According to the pandemic, COVID-19, the event was conducted in form of hybrid seminar which oversea speakers and participants remoted from their countries, meanwhile, Thai speakers and participants were at the conference site.
On this occasion, Dr. Aparat Mahakhant, Deputy Governor of Research & Development Group for Sustainable Development, presided over the opening ceremony together with Mr. Kaveh Zahedi, Deputy Executive Secretary United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). Both of them hoped that our seminar could be beneficial and applicable of Circular Economy and Technology Transfer for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises.
