Press Conference on Raising Thailand Tourism Standard to the World Standard and Hand-Over Ceremony of Tourism Certificates
On 23 July 2020, Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit, the Governor of TIST along with representatives from Department of Tourism (DOT), Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTs), Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), and Forest Industry Organization (FIO), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, attended the press conference on raising Thailand’s tourism standard to the world standard and hand-over ceremony of tourism certificates to 13 state agencies at TISTR Technopolis, Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani, Thailand.
TISTR by Office Certificate Body (OCB) registered as Thailand Tourism Standard Inspection Body from Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTs); moreover the OCB is applying for accreditation of ISO/IEC 17065 to be Thailand Tourism Standard Certification Body from Thai Industrial Standard Institute (TISI). The Institute aims to build up confidence of the tourists in traveling to standardized tourist attractions and promote Thailand tourism image to meet international standard.
As the Certificate Body, TISTR conducted field inspection at the establishments all over the country. The auditors examined relevant operations whether it meet standard criteria of the Department of Tourism. The standard criteria was divided into 3 important areas; 1) Safety for tourists 2) Resource conservation and 3) Tourism Management.
On this occasion, the event was joined by TISTR executives namely Mr. Wirach Chantra, Deputy Governor for Industrial Services Group, and Dr. Aparat Mahakhant, Deputy Governor of Research and Development Group for Sustainable Development as witness of the Hand-Over Ceremony.
