ASEAN Symposium on Development of High Value-Added Food Products

On 12 September 2019, Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), working in cooperation with Informa Markets, organized the event ‘ASEAN Symposium on Development of High Value-added Food Products’ at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition (BITEC), Bangna, Bangkok, Thailand. The purposes of the event were to share knowledge and experiences regarding development of high value-added food products based on natural resources and by-products among researchers from ASEAN member states, and to promote collaborative network among researchers from ASEAN member states. The event was successful to gather researchers and representatives from many ASEAN member states (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand). At the event, Mr. Sayan Tanpanich, as Deputy Governor R&D Groups for Bio-Industries of TISTR and as SCFST focal point Thailand, was a chairperson of the opening ceremony of the event, and Assistant Professor Dr. Kamonchai Cha-am, Assistant Professor in Biotechnology at Faculty of Agricultural Products Innovation and Technology, Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand, was an invited speaker of the event to give academic presentation. At the event, ASEAN researchers give a country report on their work related to development of high value-added food products.

On 13 September 2019, researchers and SCFST focal points from ASEAN member states visited TISTR’s infrastructure at TISTR Technopolis; to visit Food Innovation Service Plant (FISP), Innovative Center for Production of Industrially-used Microorganism (ICPIM) and Algal Excellent Center (ALEC).
