ASEAN NEXT 2019 and Workshops of TISTR
Dr. Chutima Eiamchotchawalit, Governor of Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), Mr. Wirach Chantra, Deputy Governor of Industrial Services and Dr. Aparat Mahakhant, Deputy Governor of Research and Development Group for Sustainable Development participated in the opening ceremony of event – ASEAN Next 2019: STI Leading towards Community Happiness, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) on 18 March 2019 at Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel, aiming to promote and foster sustainable social development and economic growth utilizing STI as well as strengthening the strong collaboration among ASEAN countries, Japan and dialogue partners.
On that day, Associate Professor Soranit Siltharm, MD., Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) was cordially invited to address the introductory remarks. There were the key address on ASEAN in the 21st Century: Forward-looking of STI Role to be a Smart Community and vision sharing in the aspect of STI for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Smart Community from international experts. In addition, Dr. Aparat Mahakhant of TISTR was invited share on Technology Platform to define Research Projects.
As part of ASEAN Next 2019, TISTR hosted the 2 workshops namely ;
1) ASEAN Workshop on Green Construction on Material for Community and MSMEs during 19-22 March 2019 to exchange problems and knowledge of green construction materials for MSMEs business in ASEAN countries particularly technology transfer of TISTR’s interlocking soil block. There were keynote speakers from the Netherland, Australia, and Thailand to share on sustainable building materials for low-cost housing, post-modern pavement, and sustainable energy management for green building.
2) Railway Technology for Track and Rolling Stock Maintenance during 19-21 March 2019. There were keynote speakers from Canada, China, Australia, Germany and Thailand to present on current and future plan of Thailand’s railway network, utilization of wheel load technology, technology for monitoring and maintenance. Besides, the ASEAN participants were invited to share the country report related current situation and implementation of railway technology for infrastructure and rolling stock maintenance, and to have a site visit to Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited.
