TISTR hosted a conference “Transforming SMEs through Innovation : From Local to Global Player in Bio Economy”
On the occasion of TISTR’s 55th Anniversary, TISTR hosted a conference “Transforming SMEs through Innovation : From Local to Global Player in Bio Economy” during 4 – 5 June 2018 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok.
At the conference, H.E. Dr. Suvit Maesincee, Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Thailand kindly presided over the opening ceremony. He provided a special talk on ‘Transforming SMEs through Innovation : From Local to Global Players in Bio Economy’ which explained the policy of Thailand 4.0 that MOST is aiming to facilitate STI to enhance the country in security, wealthiest, and sustainability by focusing on value – based economy. On his note, bio economy is very important to the country since the majority of Thailand is relying on the bio – based production. In this case, TISTR could be a platform on diversity of bio economy in technologies and natural resources. The ultimate goal is to promote SMEs from survivor to sufficiency, and sustainability at the end.
The event consisted of many activities such as (1) special talks and panel discussion from those Thai and international speakers on the SMEs development and driven by innovation on agriculture and food to the world market, including food innovation to enhance the role of Thailand as a kitchen of the world, (2) exhibition on TISTR’s performance and expertise in research, development, technology transfer, and industrial services including a zone for SMEs/OTOPs and network of TISTR in the country and oversea e.g. Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), China, Tokyo SME Support Center Thailand Branch Office, and Japan Packaging Institute (JPI), Japan. Moreover, there is an area for business matching and consultation provided to participants and SMEs.
