TISTR conducted a research project granted by the Office of National Research Council of Thailand to develop the high vitamin and mineral rice beverage and snack products by using fruit sweetness to replace sugar. The project aimed to increase nutritional values of the products while gaining consumers’ acceptability in terms of appearances and tastes. This will lead to the appropriate and high potential production technology in the future.
TISTR developed anaerobic incubators of 3 commonly used models, an ordinary 50 litre cabinet, and 50-, 70- litre cabinets with hand operation gauntlets. All of these machines were designed with a programmable logic controller (PLC) for automatic control of cut-off circuit devices such as a solenoid valve. The structure of machine was made of stainless steel and smooth acrylic surface to prevent adhesion of microorganisms.
Successful in conducting R&D of “Plygersic” from the extracts of Phlai (Zingiber cassumunar) and ginger (Zingiber officinale). The product was used for treating joint inflammation caused by osteoarthritis. The quality of the product was scientifically justified by essential testing such as pharmaceutical, product safety and clinical tests. The Department of Pharmaceutical and Natural Product, TISTR successfully developed the product “Musacid” from banana and ginger (350 mg/tablet) as a supplement tablet for ulcer prevention. The test showed that Musacid was effective in white rats while the clinical study showed that Musacid of 1,050 mg/tablet was effective in volunteers who had good health but suffered from ulcer. The Musacid tablet also had no hazardous effect to liver, kidney and circulary system of the volunteers
