ลักษณะ : ลำตัวยาว 33 ซม. ตัวสีน้ำตาลออกแดง ปลายปีกสีฟ้ามีแถบขวางเป็นริ้ว ๆ สีขาว สะโพกขาว กระหม่อมและหางสีดำ หน้าผาก แก้ม คาง และคอสีขาว เขตแพร่กระจาย : เทือกเขาหิมาลัย จีน ไต้หวัน เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ที่อยู่อาศัย : ป่าเต็งรัง ป่าดิบแล้ง อุปนิสัย : ชอบอยู่เดี่ยว ๆ บางครั้งพบเป็นคู่ หากินอยู่ในระดับกลางของยอดไม้ กินแมลง ตัวหนอน และผลไม้ ผสมพันธุ์ระหว่างเดือนมีนาคม-พฤษภาคม วางไข่ 4-5 ฟอง สถานภาพ : นกประจำถิ่น พบน้อย Characteristics : Size 33 cm. A large brownish red bird with a conspicuous blue patch, barred with white, on outer flight feathers; its crown and tail are sooty black with clearly-seen pale forehead, cheeks, chin and neck. A white rump patch is also evident. Distribution : Europe, the Himalayas, China, Taiwan, and SE Asia. Habitat : Dipterocarp forest and dry evergreen forest. Habit : Seen normally singly, sometimes in loose pairs, foraging among foliage at the middle layer of the tree canopy. Its diet comprises insects, caterpillars and ripe fruits. Usually breeds between March-May, a usual clutch is 4-5 eggs. Status : An infrequently-seen resident.
