Mr.Yongvut Saopruk, Governor and TISTR delegation participated the International Symposium on a Sustainable Future (ISSF) 2013 during 16-18 October 2013 organized by Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, India. It is an Academic Event Series on Innovative Research and Action in Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development gathered the speakers and participants from India and several countries i.e. USA, Denmark, Japan, and Thailand.

At the event, Mr.Yongvut was cordially invited to be Chief Guest and Chairperson, whilst Dr.Suriya Sassanarakkit, Deputy Governor R&D on Sustainable Development was a Keynote Speaker and presented the topic TISTRs R&D on Alternative Energy on 16 October 2013

In addition, on 19 October 2013, IGIDR also hosted the India-Thailand Meeting (ITM), and invited TISTR delegation to attend in order to propose and strengthen an international collaboration on the mutual interests between TISTR and other R&D institutes of India i.e. IGIDR, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

 



Mr.Yongvut Saovapruk, Governor and the delegates of TISTR participated the 1st Forum on China-ASEAN Technology Transfer and the 10th China-ASEAN Expo held in Nanning, China during 3-6 September 2013.
During that time, Mr.Yongvut was invited to participate the bilateral meeting between the Minister of MOST, Thailand and China which both sides agreed to pursue the close collaboration on STI.
In addition, the delegation paid an on-site visit to Nanning High and New Technology Industrial Development Zone including the Shenzhen Sacred Industry Co.,LTD., a private solar high-tech enterprise, and the DK Lightning Protection, the company engaged in the main business of lightning protection engineering, grounding and lightning protection product R&D, productions and sales.
Then, Mr.Yongvut together with the head representatives of institutes under MOST participated the High-level Dialogue. On this occasion Mr.Somchai Tiamboonprasert, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of MOST delivered the keynote speeches together with the speeches by other representatives from enterprises, universities, R&D institutes, as well as technology transfer agencies and professionals of China and ASEAN Member States.
Whilst the 10th China-ASEAN Expo held at Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center, TISTR also participated and presented our R&D achievements on Mygesal Herbal Gel for reducing joint and muscle inflammation and pain, Royal Herb Gel for muscle pain relief, Bio-jet Oil Micro-algae oil extract to be further developed to biofuel, Organic Nano Chemical Fertilizer, and Ultra Aroma Therapy.

 



On 15 August 2013, Mr. Alongkorn Laow-ngam, Minister Counselor (Science and Technology), brought the U.S. Federal Delegation led by Dr. Dahlia L. Sokolov, the Research Subcommittee of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology U.S. House of Representative to visit TISTR HQ, on the mission to better understand Thailands current status of S&T development, as well as, to build relationship in the areas of S&T development in Thailand. The U.S. Federal Delegation also consisted of Mr. Eric Hammond, Office of Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson, Mr. Glenn J. McLoughlin, Resource, Science and Industry Division of Congressional Research Service (CRS) Library of Congress (LOC), and Dr. Marcy Gallo, the Research Subcommittee of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, U.S. House of Representative. In this occasion, Mr. Yongvut Saovapruk, Governor of TISTR, along with TISTR executive and researcher team, welcomed the delegation at the Board Meeting Room. The delegation learned about TISTRs organization background including TISTRs current research direction and strategies in STI development. Before leaving, the Congressional Staff and U.S. Federal Delegation visited laboratories of Food Technology Department, Pharmaceutical and Natural Product Department, Bioscience Department and Agricultural Technology Department.

 



On 6 August 2013, Mr. Yongvut Saovapruk, Governor of TISTR, along with TISTR executive and researcher team, received Dr. Ryoji Chubachi, the President of National Institute of advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and his executive team, Japan, on their visit to TISTR HQ. On the visit, Dr. Chubachi learned about TISTRs organization background including TISTRs current research direction and achievement, and had a discussion with Mr. Yongvut and TISTR team. In the end of discussion, the both sides confirmed their joint willingness to continue the two institute relation and S&T collaboration in the future. Before leaving, Dr. Chubachi and AIST delegation visited laboratories of Bioscience Department and BDF pilot plant of Energy Technology Department.



TISTR, in cooperation with National Science and Development Agency (NSTDA), Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI),
Japan, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and New Energy Foundation (NEF), Japan, successfully hosted the 10th Biomass-Asia Workshop:
Biomass Refinery to Community and Industrial Applications on 5-6 August 2013 at Centara Grand at Central World, Bangkok, Thailand. This important forum gathered the experts
and participants almost 400 persons from Asia, ASEAN, and Thailand

The Workshop featured oral presentation on country reports regarding biomass and alternative energy from the ASEAN member countries and Asia, lectures on industrialization
of biotechnologies, lessons learned under participating NEF program, etc. as well as poster presentation highlighting the utilization of alternative feedstock for biomass, biomass-based
chemical substances production, synthetic hydrocarbon from biomass, application of biomass refinery product to communities and industries, and other related topics.

On 9 July 2013, the delegation from Tian Jin Motimo Membrane Technology Co., Ltd. (TMMT) headed by Dr. Xiao Chang Fa, Vice President of Tian Jin Polytechnic University, visited TISTR HQ, to participate the Signing Ceremony of the Minutes of Meeting to bind R&D cooperation in membrane technology and application between TISTR and TMMT. The Minutes of Meeting was signed by Dr. Sutiporn Chewasatn, Deputy Governor Research and Development for Sustainable Development, and Dr. Xiao Chang Fa, Vice President of Tian Jin Polytechnic University, who are authorized signing representatives from TISTR and TMMT side, respectively.

After the ceremony, both sides had discussed on further research cooperation and drafted an action plan for the project on Development of PVDF Hollow Fiber Membrane with Uniform Large Pores and Its Application Technology. The aim of the project is to develop membrane system and technology for fruit juice filtration process, with the plan to promote its application to the industry and private sector. The project is a long-term research cooperation project under the 20th Sino-Thailand Science and Technology Cooperation supported by the Governments of Thailand and China on Scientific and Technical Cooperation


 

TISTR and SIRIM Berhad, Malaysia signed the Collaboration Arrangement concerning on S&T Cooperation

Mr.Yongvut Saovapruk, Governor of TISTR and the delegation visited SIRIM Berhad, Shah Alam, Malaysia during 13-15 May 2013. On that occasion, the signing ceremony of the Collaboration Arrangement was organized. The Arrangement was signed by Mr.Yongvut and Dr. Zainal Abidin Mohd Yusof, President and Chief Executive, SIRIM Berhad. The S&T Cooperation in the mutual interested areas between the 2 institutes is concerned and it shall remain the period of 2 years of cooperation onward.

The delegation was led by the researchers and staff of SIRIM Berhad to experience on SIRIM Gallery, WAITRO Office. Besides, they visited the S&T units i.e. Wood Polymer Composite, Ceramics Centre, Industrial Biotech Research Centre, Environmental Technology Research Centre, and Granulab Sdn Bhd where is the success showcase company related the integration on SIRIMs research achievement, GranuMas,
a synthetic bone graft material product which already been commercialized to business sector. Whilst the industrial services, TISTR delegation was led to visit the Joining & Inspection Services and National Metrology Laboratory 
respectively.

Both sides discussed and agreed to initiate the collaboration in the several fields i.e. medical equipment/devices and its laboratory in accordant to ISO 13485, biogas, bioethanol, GLP-OECD approval certification for toxico- and ecotoxicity laboratoryin Thailand, Non destructive testing especially TCR (TUV Creep Replica) and Failure Investigation, Measurement & Calibration, etc.
